What’s Your Superpower? Mine Is… Energy.

What’s your superpower? Mine is… Energy.

Shannon’s September update

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the energy you show up with and how it affects other people. If you show up with a smile, if you show up ready to find a solution, if you feel vulnerable but show up with courage anyway, if you can show up with listening (and hugging) skills, or if you don’t want to be but need to be the inspiration for the hour—do it anyway. My biggest takeaway is that yes, your ENERGY absolutely matters! The energy with which you show up and how you treat others can change the entire dynamic of a situation. Join me this month in becoming a bit more self-aware of how we bring positivity, solutions, empathy, kindness, joy, and courage on a daily basis.

I’ve noticed that when people complain about something, others join in, and we feel a collective sense of togetherness. For example, when traveling, all I hear people talking about is how upset they are that their flight is delayed, how horrible the turbulence was, or how long their travel day has been, and one by one, people join in to commiserate. Then they take it a step further by sharing stories about their worst travel experiences. Or how the airline is the worst, and they wish they didn’t have to fly at all. What an inconvenience it is to their life. I know you know what I’m talking about. It happens every single time I fly! I just wonder how different our lives would be if, even in those challenging moments, we chose to focus on the positives instead of the negatives. Could we make that travel experience significantly better if we found some joy in it all?

I know, I know, I know it sounds silly and trivial, but what if we showed up to be that person who started a POSITIVE conversation instead of joining in on the negative? Could we go out of our way to put a smile on people’s faces and be the person to lift everyone up? Here are three ways I use to make sure I bring my positive energy, even when I don’t feel like it at all:

  1. Say it with a smile.

It is REALLY hard to say something negative with a smile. So instead, put a smile on your face and rethink what you were about to say.

  2. Reframe your mindset.

Instead of thinking “I HAVE to do this,” reframe your situation by thinking, “I GET to do this.” Just that little shift in thinking can have a huge impact on your energy.

  3. Be the person you wish to meet.

I am always hoping to meet someone who will make a difference in my life and inspire me to live the best version of myself. And we all know the saying that if you want it, you must put it out there. And I swear, I have met some of the most magical people in my life simply by putting myself out there first.

We are all on this journey of life together, so why not make it the absolute best and most fun it possibly can be? I am a hard worker but also enjoy the journey. Our lives are meant to be lived, so why not make the most of every second we have? Energy is my superpower, and I’m happy to share what I’ve got!

Quote of the month

That’s all for now! If you’d like to work with me, keynote speaking is where I bring my best energy. I absolutely love trying to inspire and make a difference in other people’s lives. I was most recently on stage in Palm Springs and got to spend some time during my mic check with the 9 Lives Cat, Morris. And yes, he is as cool and calm as he looks. Talk about energy and fun! Booking for this winter is filling up fast, so please reach out HERE if you want some of my energy on your stage, affecting your team!
